Job Title: Ward Clerk - MSICU
Job Summary:
The University Health Network is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Ward Clerk to join our Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit team. As a Ward Clerk, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the nursing staff, ensuring the efficient operation of the unit, and maintaining accurate patient records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform reception duties, including answering phones and responding to inquiries
- Provide clerical support, including data entry and filing
- Organize and maintain patient charts and electronic records
- Coordinate unit administrative functions, including scheduling and appointments
- Ensure the efficient operation of the unit, within the scope of authority
Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Minimum one (1) year related clerical experience
- General knowledge of office practices, processes, and procedures
- Previous on-the-job computer word processing/spreadsheet experience
- Good data entry/keyboarding skills
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to produce high-quality work in accordance with Hospital standards
- Ability to work effectively and safely when dealing with stressful situations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary secretarial arts program at the certificate level or equivalent
- Experience working in a Microsoft Office software environment
- Experience working in a healthcare environment
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
