Job Title: Registered Nurse - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

North York General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team. As a Registered Nurse in the NICU, you will provide high-quality patient care to critically ill newborns and their families, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill newborns, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Participate in rounds and report patient status to the healthcare team.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, including information about the patient's condition, treatment options, and self-care.
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly, including medical history, treatment plans, and outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, or equivalent.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification (must obtain within 3 months of employment).
  • STABLE certificate (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • Perinatal Intensive Care Course preferred.
  • Recognized breast feeding course.
  • 1-year experience of neonatal nursing in a community setting.
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset.

This is a Part Time Permanent position with 12 hour shifts, Days, Nights, including Weekend shifts in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
