Job Summary

The University Health Network is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit Clerk to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit, ensuring the efficient operation of the unit and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform reception and clerical duties, including answering phones and responding to emails
  • Provide administrative support to the unit, including scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records
  • Organize and maintain patient charts and electronic filing systems
  • Coordinate unit administrative functions, including ordering supplies and managing inventory
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the unit, within the scope of authority

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum one (1) year related clerical experience
  • General knowledge of office practices, processes, and procedures
  • Previous on-the-job computer word processing/spreadsheet experience
  • Good data entry/keyboarding skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in accordance with Hospital standards
  • Ability to work effectively and safely when dealing with stressful situations
