Job Title: Ward Clerk

Job Summary:

The University Health Network is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Ward Clerk to join our team. As a Ward Clerk, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit, ensuring the efficient operation of the unit and maintaining accurate patient records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform reception duties, including answering phones and responding to patient inquiries
  • Provide clerical support, including data entry and filing
  • Organize and maintain patient charts and electronic information systems
  • Coordinate unit administrative functions, including scheduling and coordinating appointments and meetings
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the unit, within the scope of authority

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum one (1) year related clerical experience
  • General knowledge of office practices, processes, and procedures
  • Previous on-the-job computer word processing/spreadsheet experience
  • Good data entry/keyboarding skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in accordance with Hospital standards
  • Ability to work effectively and safely when dealing with stressful situations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary secretarial arts program at the certificate level or equivalent
  • Experience working in a Microsoft Office software environment
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
