Position Overview

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a Senior Technical Officer – Trades to join our dedicated team. This role is crucial in delivering effective design solutions and project management within the housing sector.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical guidance and project management support to district teams.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of building plans and offer detailed scopes of work for maintenance and capital projects.
  • Evaluate and address complex technical issues related to building components, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Utilize specialized equipment for testing and inspection of existing and new facilities, generating comprehensive reports for follow-up actions.
  • Support district offices with training on construction inspections and project scope preparation.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A recognized trades certificate in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in housing design and construction.
  • At least 2 years of project management experience.
  • Familiarity with cold climate construction practices and proficiency in AutoCAD is advantageous.

Additional Information

Fluency in Inuktitut or Inuinnaqtun is considered an asset, along with knowledge of Inuit culture and experience in a northern cross-cultural environment. The Government of Nunavut is committed to building a representative workforce and encourages applications from Nunavut Inuit.
