Job Title: Senior Technical Officer

Join the Government of Nunavut as a Senior Technical Officer and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for housing design and construction in the territory.

About the Role

The Senior Technical Officer will work closely with the district project management teams, district maintenance management teams, and program departments to provide technical and project management advice and guidance on the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings.

The successful candidate will possess a recognized trades certificate in a related discipline and 6 years' experience with housing design and construction, along with 2 years of Project Management experience. Experience working in cold climate construction and knowledge of Auto Cad are considered assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and project management advice and guidance to district project management teams, district maintenance management teams, and program departments.
  • Design solutions, cost confirmation, project analysis, and/or studies to ensure the lowest capital cost possible for capital projects and operations/maintenance activities.
  • Provide detailed plan reviews in the specified discipline at various stages of the building design, and provide detailed scopes of work and associated construction documents to assist the district offices as needed for all maintenance and capital projects.
  • Support and train district offices on inspections of new construction and preparation of scope of work for Modernization and Improvement (M&I) Capital Projects.
Requirements
  • Recognized trades certificate in a related discipline.
  • 6 years' experience with housing design and construction.
  • 2 years of Project Management experience.
  • Experience working in cold climate construction and knowledge of Auto Cad are considered assets.
