Health Care Social Worker

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team in a permanent full-time position. As a Social Worker, you will be responsible for providing clinical assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of prevention and early intervention programming for adolescents at-risk for or who have mild substance use and/or mental health problems.
You will work as part of a team to provide a wide range of services in schools and communities, including screening, assessment, supportive counseling, referral, case navigation/management, early/brief intervention, outreach, and group programming. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of health promotion/population health framework, harm reduction, community development, strengths-based methods, and readiness to change model.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work, and have two years of experience working with adolescents at-risk, community resources, harm reduction, and substance use. They will also have experience with interviewing skills, suicide risk assessment, and group facilitation.
The successful candidate will be bi-lingual in both English and French and have a strong understanding of community resources and programs. They will also have knowledge of harm reduction and adolescent substance use, mental health risks and problems for youth, and adolescent development.
The Nova Scotia Health Authority offers a competitive salary range of $33.97 - $42.89 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
