Job Summary

The McMaster Children's Hospital Autism Program is an ambulatory service for children and youth with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. This service has strong links to McMaster University's Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry, McMaster Autism Research Team (MacART) and the Offord Centre for Child Studies.

Position Overview

As a Behaviour Therapist in the McMaster Children's Hospital Autism Program, you will develop and provide behaviour reduction treatment services and supports to children and youth (up to age 18) who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and their families. Services may be provided in groups as well as individually. Parent workshops and training will be an integral component of the services. You will work as a member of an integrated service delivery team within the Autism Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide behaviour reduction treatment services and supports to children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Work with children and youth, as well as their families, to develop and implement behaviour reduction treatment plans
  • Provide parent workshops and training as part of the services
  • Work as a member of an integrated service delivery team within the Autism Program

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in human behaviour and/or developmental psychology
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing
  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of behavioural assessment, service coordination, and treatment planning with children and/or youth with a developmental disability
  • Three to five years clinical experience in providing Applied Behaviour Analysis services and supports to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Experience in providing education/training to caregivers of children and youth with ASD
  • Experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills and experience with data management
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and use of a vehicle
  • Bilingual fluency in French would be an asset
  • Participation in a criminal reference screening process
  • Ability to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
