Located in the heart of Hamilton, Hamilton General Hospital is renowned for its cutting-edge care and hosts several regional referral programs. Our neurosciences and trauma programs are recognized leaders in both the volume and complexity of care provided. The stroke program has developed an integrated care approach, while our burn treatment program is one of only two in the province. Our cardiac and vascular program is the most active in Ontario, performing a high number of heart surgeries and procedures.

The Heart Investigations Unit (HIU) at Hamilton General Hospital is a premier facility that conducts a range of procedures to diagnose and manage cardiac conditions. With 32 beds and four advanced cardiac catheterization labs, we handle complex patient cases within the designated cardiac center for the region.

Position Overview

As a vital member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Registered X-Ray Technologist is responsible for coordinating, executing, and assessing Diagnostic Services examinations. You will guide and mentor clinical and technical associates, as well as students, in a dynamic teaching and research environment. Our technologists are committed to providing exceptional patient care aligned with HHS's core values of respect, compassion, innovation, and accountability. You may be required to rotate through various modalities and locations based on qualifications and departmental needs.

Our Diagnostic Services team caters to a diverse patient population, including both adults and children, delivering services around the clock, seven days a week. The department encompasses X-Ray, CT Scan, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound, and Interventional Radiology.

Work Schedule

Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and nights as necessary, with participation in a call-back rotation expected.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Radiological Technology program
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologist of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Preferred: Minimum of 2 years' experience in HIU
  • Completion of the MRT stream of CPO orientation and all core classes within the first year of employment
  • Successful completion of an ECG rhythm interpretation course is required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Proficient problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities
  • Commitment to ongoing education and professional development
  • Preferred: Membership in CAMRT/OAMRS

As a condition of employment, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required.
