Lakes District Maintenance Inc. is looking for a permanent full-time Skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic or Trainee. The ideal candidate will preferably hold a Red Seal Certification or an equivalent qualification in Heavy Duty Mechanics.

Reporting to the Equipment and Facilities Manager, this role involves executing both preventative and corrective maintenance on specialized construction machinery and related vehicles.

The position requires performing advanced mechanical tasks in accordance with industry standards. While the majority of work will be conducted in a mechanical workshop, some travel and fieldwork may be necessary.

Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong physical and mental capabilities to handle the demands of the trade.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and occasionally guide the efforts of other team members, including apprentices.
  • Proficient computer skills for documentation, equipment diagnostics, and online research related to repairs and troubleshooting.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School Diploma is preferred.
  • Completion of a registered apprenticeship with a valid Certificate of Qualification from the Industrial Training Authority or an equivalent.
  • Possession of a CVIP Inspection License or the ability to obtain one for conducting CVIs.
  • A valid BC driver's license suitable for the trade functions (Class 3 with air endorsement preferred).
  • Familiarity with the highway maintenance sector is an asset, though not mandatory.
