Lakes District Maintenance Inc. is seeking a permanent full-time experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic or apprentice to work in a dynamic team environment.

Under the direction of the Equipment and Facilities Manager, this position will perform duties and tasks related to the preventative and corrective maintenance of specialized construction equipment and other related construction equipment and vehicles.

This role entails performing skilled journeyman level mechanical work according to standards of the trade. Some travel and field work may be required, but mainly working in a mechanical shop.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on specialized construction equipment and other related construction equipment and vehicles.
  • Working in a team environment to achieve maintenance goals and objectives.
  • Assisting and/or directing the efforts of other employees, including apprentices.
  • Using computer skills and experience to document, diagnose, and research equipment repair and maintenance.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a registered apprenticeship with a valid Certificate of Qualification issued by the Industrial Training Authority, or the approved equivalent, for the trade.
  • CVIP Inspection License or ability to obtain a CVIP Inspection License to perform CVI's.
  • Valid BC driver's license of the appropriate class required to carry out the related trade functions.
  • Knowledge of the highway maintenance industry an asset, but not required.
