People Manager - Starting Salary: $45,000/year

Position Overview

The People Manager plays a crucial role in the restaurant by overseeing shift operations and ensuring that the team is composed of individuals who embody the Hospitality Gene. This position is responsible for effective recruitment, comprehensive training, and strategic scheduling to achieve the restaurant's goals related to guest satisfaction, sales, and profitability.

This manager inspires the crew, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles, understand the significance of delivering exceptional guest experiences, and feel appreciated and motivated throughout their tenure.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Management

  • Analyze guest count and sales forecasts.
  • Complete pre-shift checklists and positioning plans.
  • Set shift objectives in collaboration with area managers and monitor execution.
  • Conduct daily shift huddles and manage operations from a strategic observation point.
  • Identify areas for improvement and provide coaching as needed.
  • Engage with guests during their visit.
  • Conduct post-shift evaluations to assess performance.

Production Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to production standards and procedures.
  • Monitor food quality and holding times.

Guest Service Management

  • Coach staff on service excellence and guest interaction.
  • Gather guest feedback and address complaints promptly.

Business Planning

  • Track progress against departmental goals using performance metrics.
  • Participate in weekly management meetings and conduct departmental assessments.

Internal Communication

  • Organize crew meetings and recognition events.
  • Implement incentives to reward outstanding performance.

People Practices

  • Conduct monthly staffing analyses to ensure optimal crew levels.
  • Facilitate new hire orientations and ongoing check-ins.
  • Manage uniform inventory and ensure staff are appropriately attired.

Scheduling

  • Maintain a system for managing time-off requests.
  • Prepare weekly crew schedules and ensure timely posting.

Training and Development

  • Maintain training materials and conduct monthly training needs assessments.
  • Develop training schedules for new and existing employees.
