Position Overview:

This role is a part-time support staff position within the Bargaining Unit, reporting to the Manager of the Centre of Access Programs. The position entails working 24 hours weekly at a competitive hourly rate. This is a permanent role that operates for 8 months each year, typically aligning with the academic calendar.

Key Responsibilities:


• Collaborate with faculty to adapt course materials, assessments, and assignments

• Develop and propose policies and procedures for the effective management of the work unit

• Provide relevant data to stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making

• Address the needs of service users by coordinating various learning initiatives

• Undertake additional responsibilities as necessary

Qualifications:


• Completion of a two-year diploma in Educational Assistance, Developmental Services, Child and Youth Work, or Social Services, or equivalent experience in a related field

• 1-3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or significant learning challenges, preferably in an educational setting

• Training in mental health is advantageous

• Proficient in educational strategies and familiar with tools such as Microsoft Teams and D2L

• Strong advocacy skills and a willingness to engage in promotional activities

• Exceptional interpersonal communication abilities, demonstrating professionalism and patience

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions, showcasing initiative

• Strong organizational skills and creative problem-solving capabilities

• A collaborative team player
