Student Advisor

This is a temporary, part-time support staff role that will provide academic advising and support services to students in the Lambton-Kent community. The successful candidate will work closely with students, college services, and community partners to facilitate a smooth transition to post-secondary education.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish close relationships with SWAC students and provide individualized support to help them navigate the post-secondary education application process.
- Collaborate with SWAC Board Teachers to provide academic advising and support services to students.
- Assist students with college applications, provide OCAS application vouchers, and help them identify and overcome barriers to education.
- Host college tours and provide students with an overview of college options and opportunities.
- Connect students to community resources and external supports to help them succeed in their academic pursuits.
The ideal candidate will have a three-year diploma or degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, or Child and Youth Care, or a diploma and experience in a relevant or related field. They will also have a minimum of two years' experience in a student services or social services setting, including experience working directly with students. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team, are essential for this role.
