Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations System Damages Representative to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of data and information that supports the creation of damage claim invoices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reconcile and validate supporting information to enable invoice approvals and generation.
  • Prepare timely billing to customers, reviewing information for consistency, accuracy, and appropriate approvals.
  • Distribute customer invoices and supporting documentation, and prepare invoice breakdown statements as required.
  • Process claims interactions in online systems, run queries and reports, and update related information.
  • Process claim-related work orders and notifications, maintaining data integrity.
  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors to resolve customer disputes, create supporting documentation, and apply discounts where necessary.
  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries, verbally or in written communications.
  • Responsible for pursuing claims less than $5000.00.
  • Provide assistance with pursuing recoveries from damages incurred on FortisBC assets, including foreign utility damage and general damages.
  • Collaborate with others to gather claim information, communicate with claimants, employees, and external agencies as needed.
  • Provide support for the assessment and payment of claims involving FortisBC.
  • Perform administrative duties, including scanning documents, preparing and mailing letters or emails, invoices, and reminder notices.
Requirements
  • High school graduation plus a minimum of a post-secondary education certificate in a legal field.
  • Minimum of two years of directly related work experience, typically gained through an Operation Support Representative 3 position or an insurance and claims work environment.
  • Strong customer service and verbal/non-verbal communication skills, including the ability to respond to difficult customer situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Sound organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under pressure during peak workload periods.
  • Sound written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and compose external and internal correspondence and process enquiries.
  • Courteous and professional manner in dealing with internal and external contacts, including positive interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a positive team environment.
  • Fast and accurate keyboarding skills, including the ability to format various types of correspondence, reports, forms, charts, and electronic spreadsheets.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems operations, environment, and peripherals, as well as various applications software in use in the department (SAP and MS Office products).
  • Knowledge of field operations processes and procedures.
  • Sound analytical and decision-making skills, including the ability to interpret data from various sources.
