Key Responsibilities

Your daily tasks will include:

  1. Project Oversight & Design
    Collaborate with senior experts and technical teams to design and develop remediation and risk management strategies for contaminated sites and brownfields. Oversee and direct projects focused on environmental contaminants in various media, including soil and groundwater, while managing phased environmental site assessments (ESAs) and the Ontario Record of Site Condition (RSC) process. Contribute to the creation of contract specifications to facilitate the bidding process. Lead or assist in contract administration related to remediation efforts. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, effectively communicating technical and project management details. Ensure compliance with corporate, client, and site-specific health and safety protocols, as well as relevant regulations. Manage multiple concurrent environmental projects involving diverse teams of specialists.
  2. Client Relations & Business Development
    Address Requests for Proposals concerning contaminated site projects to foster and maintain robust client relationships. Identify and cultivate new business opportunities. Provide leadership in sustaining existing client partnerships, including proposal preparation and qualifications statements. Travel to other company offices may be required.
  3. Professional Growth & Development
    Dedicate yourself to continuous learning and professional advancement. Mentor junior staff by providing technical guidance, training suggestions, and coaching. Enhance the company’s corporate profile through active involvement in professional associations and committees.
Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will need:

  1. Professional Engineer designation.
  2. A degree in environmental engineering or a related field.
  3. 10 to 15 years of experience in environmental consulting or relevant industrial roles, including project management.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of regulations governing contaminated sites and remediation processes.
Experience

Proficiency in the following areas:

  1. Development of remedial action plans
  2. Creation of Risk Management Plans
  3. Implementation of remedial solutions
  4. Establishment of risk management measures
  5. Preparation of remediation specifications and tender documents
  6. Contract management
  7. Permitting and compliance oversight
  8. Cost estimation for remedial initiatives
  9. Analysis of remedial options

Demonstrated experience in managing multiple contaminated site and ESA-related projects of varying values.

Familiarity with diverse remediation technologies and methodologies across different media, in collaboration with contractors.

Strong grasp of the Environmental Protection Act, including regulations related to brownfields, spills, and excess soils.

Experience working with industrial sites and First Nations communities.

Solid understanding of contaminant behavior and transport, along with the development of conceptual site models to support remediation efforts.

Experience with phased environmental site assessments (ESAs) and the Record of Site Condition (RSC) process in Ontario.
