Director of Health and Safety Compliance

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Health and Safety Compliance to join our team at Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring our company meets all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Create and manage health and safety programs to ensure compliance and promote a safety-first culture.
- Conduct Audits and Assessments: Oversee annual audits of safety programs to check for compliance and effectiveness, and conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement.
- Training and Development: Oversee safety training, including finding resources, scheduling, and tracking progress, to ensure all employees are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely.
- Regulatory Compliance: Handle all regulatory and environmental compliance reporting and manage necessary certifications to ensure our company remains compliant with federal and provincial standards.
- WSIB Management: Work with our consultants to manage WSIB accounts, including claims and return-to-work cases, to ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Policy Development and Support: Lead and support the development and implementation of Social Accountability and Environmental Sustainability policies and committees to ensure our company's commitment to these values is reflected in our practices.
- Budgeting and Financial Management: Develop, manage, and make capital recommendations for the Health and Safety budget to ensure our company's resources are allocated effectively.
- University degree or College diploma in a relevant field or equivalent employment experience.
- Minimum five years' experience in a Health & Safety and Environmental Compliance role.
- In-depth understanding of the food manufacturing industry and its regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is required.
- Certified Health and Safety consultant (CHSC) designation would be an asset.
