We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety across our facilities.
Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC) at all locations.
- Conduct JHSC and First Aid training programs for employees.
- Manage monthly facility, first aid, and fire extinguisher logs for all sites.
- Ensure compliance with Workers' Compensation Board (WSIB) regulations, including filings, return-to-work programs, and modified duties.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding health and safety concerns and WSIB matters.
- Respond to emergency situations and conduct thorough incident/accident investigations.
- Develop and implement company-wide COVID-19 policies and procedures.
- Maintain OH&S boards at all locations and prepare quarterly meeting minutes.
- Create and maintain binders containing H&S documentation, including first aid supply inventories and yearly policy updates.
- Manage fire system inspections and equipment maintenance schedules.
- Compile and record daily appointment and cleaning logs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- University Degree, College Diploma, or Certifications in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience applying health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Certified member of JHSC will be considered an asset.
- Valid G Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Exceptional professionalism, prioritization skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
