Position Overview

This 12-month Co-op position focuses on Service Manufacturing Engineering (ME) and aims to enhance process efficiencies for MX Products. Under general supervision, the selected candidate will collaborate with the Operations Engineering team to interpret and convey information effectively. The role involves contributing to system and process modifications to meet operational objectives that influence team performance. The responsibilities include making minor adjustments to processes to address challenges or enhance the effectiveness of current methods, as well as recommending solutions for further evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in assigned projects related to Service activities within Operations Engineering.
  • Collaborate with the Service Frontline ME team to resolve technical operational issues and develop new system processes.
  • Establish and maintain operational procedures for evaluating, repairing, and testing all products on the service shop floor.
  • Identify inefficiencies in the Service process, such as unnecessary motion and waiting times, and implement data-driven improvements using Lean methodologies like RCCA, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
  • Assist in translating product specifications from engineering into service procedures.
  • Collect and analyze data related to estimating accuracy and cycle times for shop floor throughput.
  • Support updates to documentation, including service procedures, Work Instructions, and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) authoring.
  • Review change requests from engineering and service personnel, implementing changes as necessary.
  • Assist with additional business priorities as directed by Operations Engineering leadership.

Required Skills

  • Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
  • Enrollment in a co-op engineering program at the university or college level.
  • Excellent organizational skills, goal-oriented mindset, and attention to detail.
  • Able to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the organization.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, Composer, and AutoCAD is a plus, but not mandatory.
