Position Overview
This 12-month Co-op role focuses on Service Manufacturing Engineering (ME) and is aimed at enhancing process efficiencies for MX Product. Under general supervision, you will collaborate with the Operations Engineering team to interpret and communicate relevant information. Your contributions will influence systems and process modifications to achieve operational goals that affect team performance. The work will primarily involve minor adjustments to processes to address challenges or enhance the effectiveness of current methods. You will be expected to propose solutions for review and work towards achieving operational objectives that impact overall team results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and engage in assigned projects related to Service operations within the Engineering team.
- Collaborate with the Service Frontline ME team to resolve technical operational issues and develop new systems processes.
- Establish and maintain operational procedures for evaluating, repairing, and testing all products on the service shop floor.
- Identify inefficiencies in the Service process, such as unnecessary motion and waiting times, and implement data-driven improvements using Lean methodologies like RCCA, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
- Assist in translating product specifications from engineering into service procedures.
- Collect and analyze data concerning estimating accuracy and cycle times related to shop floor productivity.
- Support updates to documentation, including service procedures, Work Instructions, and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) authoring.
- Review change requests from engineering and service personnel, implementing changes as necessary.
- Assist with other business priorities as directed by Operations Engineering leadership.
Required Skills
- Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
- Enrollment in a co-op engineering program at the university or college level.
- Highly organized, goal-oriented, and attentive to detail.
- Able to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the organization.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, Composer, and AutoCAD is advantageous but not mandatory.
