About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medicine Specialist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Comprehensive Primary Care Physician, you will have the opportunity to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for examining patients, taking their histories, ordering diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures, advising patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention, consulting and referring to other medical practitioners, acting as a patient advocate, prescribing and administering medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emergency medicine services to patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Develop and implement comprehensive primary care plans for patients
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research and best practices

Requirements:

  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Eligibility for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada ER certification considered an asset
