About This Role

We are seeking qualified Emergency Medicine physicians to provide shift coverage in community hospitals located in the Western Zone. This position presents an excellent opportunity for both family medicine and emergency medicine specialists to become integral members of the healthcare teams in various communities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive emergency care to patients within the designated zone. Responsibilities include:

  • Full scope of practice as an emergency physician.
  • Collaboration with the Zone Department Head for Emergency Medicine to ensure high-quality care and adherence to professional standards.
  • Participation in the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

Qualifications

All applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
  • Family physicians must hold membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
  • Current PALS Certification.
  • Current ATLS Certification.
  • Preferred: Current ACLS Certification.
