Payroll Operations Lead

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Operations Lead to join our team at Trane Technologies. As a key member of our payroll team, you will be responsible for delivering support for our Canadian operations to implement and drive Trane Technologies Payroll Service strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Payroll Data Analysis:** Analyze all incoming time information, input and balance payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- **Transaction Processing:** Process transactions and payroll files in coordination with third-party vendors to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
- **Remittance Coordination:** Coordinate and review third-party remittances, including pension, taxes, workers' compensation, and union payments.
- **Auditing and Compliance:** Audit pension contribution files and ensure demographic data changes are made in payroll and in recordkeeper's system.
- **Vacation Pay Calculation:** Calculate vacation pay and ensure accurate payment.
- **Tax Form Auditing:** Audit year-end tax forms to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- **Benefit and Pension Tracking:** Track benefit, pension, and union contributions for leave of absence payrolls.
- **Payroll Inquiries:** Audit and resolve payroll inquiries to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
- **Documentation and Reporting:** Create documentation for new processes and accurately update existing documentation based on process enhancements.
- **Payroll/HR Reporting:** Create and provide recurrent Payroll/HR reports, metrics, and forecasting per customer and support requirements.
- **Error Resolution:** Resolve errors and issues that may arise with payroll disbursements, ensuring investigation of issues are coordinated between vendors, technical teams, and Payroll groups.
- **Payroll Disbursement:** Support and execute activities related to the disbursement of payroll for all employees.
- **Auditor Support:** Assist auditors in annual pension audits, and other periodic government audits.
- **Payment Requests:** Collect, review, and initiate void or stop payments, and payment reissuance requests, as required.
- **Pay Adjustments:** Support calculations related to pay adjustments, final paychecks, and pay differentials.
- **Control Self-Assessments:** Perform any control self-assessments to ensure controls are regularly tested and in place for the processes, and are compliant with governmental and internal rules.
- **Data Security:** Ensure data is secure, accurate, and timely through communications, training, audits, mass data load processing, and reporting, including ensuring SOX compliance, segregation of duties, and security access.
- **Special Business Initiatives:** Support special business initiatives as required.
Qualifications:
- **Education:** Associate's degree in an Information Systems, HR, Finance, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- **Experience:** Minimum of 5 years of functional experience in Payroll and at least 3 years' experience working with PeopleSoft or other related HRMS systems (Oracle, SAP, Workday).
- **Multi-Province Payrolls:** Experience with multi-province payrolls and related provincial legislations.
- **ADP Platforms:** Experience working with ADP platforms.
- **Reporting Tools:** Proficient using 3rd-party reporting tools.
- **PeopleSoft/Workday:** Experience with PeopleSoft/Workday.
- **Analytical and Organizational Skills:** Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- **Confidentiality:** Ability to manage information in a confidential manner.
- **MS Office:** Advanced level MS Office skills, including experience with SharePoint.
- **Problem-Solving:** Able to anticipate problems, respond accordingly, and work independently.
- **Communication Skills:** Excellent follow-through, verbal, and written communication skills.
- **Payroll Certifications:** Payroll certifications (PCP) - Payroll Compliance Professional - Preferred.
- **Canadian Tax Laws:** Familiarity with Canadian tax laws.
- **Bilingual:** Bilingual highly preferred.
