SALARY RANGE
$53,876.00 to $95,479.00 per year (based on qualifications and experience)

SUMMARY
This role encompasses various responsibilities aimed at assisting students in selecting the educational path that aligns with their interests and capabilities, while also guiding them in their academic and professional journeys. Through counseling sessions and assessments, the counselor provides insights and participates in organizing workshops, conferences, and study days focused on time management.

DUTIES

  • Develops and implements objectives and policies for guidance services in alignment with the College's success initiatives.
  • Offers advice to students regarding their career choices by evaluating their interests, skills, and experiences through individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Addresses challenges such as indecision, lack of career direction, and adaptation issues related to academic performance.
  • Informs and supports students regarding various educational programs, admission processes, and related opportunities.
  • Assists students in understanding different professions, including job outlooks and working conditions.
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team on case studies.
  • Maintains and updates student records relevant to guidance services.
  • Fosters relationships with industry representatives, faculty, and educational institutions.
  • Organizes and executes activities such as conferences and site visits that promote student success and personal growth.
  • Analyzes and curates academic and career information for student use.
  • Administers and interprets assessments, discussing results with students.
  • As part of Student Services:
  • Engages in orientation and registration processes.
  • Consults with students considering leaving their programs.
  • Contributes to promotional initiatives of the College.
  • Provides educational support to students in technical fields while maintaining connections to the job market.
  • Guides students through the transition to employment, including resume writing and interview preparation.
  • Ensures accuracy of information on guidance services in various communication platforms.
  • Coordinates visits to universities.
  • Participates in informational activities at universities and educational institutions.
  • Stays informed about labor market trends and educational programs.
  • May undertake additional related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Education, Guidance, Psychology, or similar.
  • Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

  • Strong work ethic and discretion.
  • Relevant experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Cégep system in Québec is advantageous.
