SALARY RANGE
$53,876.00 to $95,479.00 per year (based on education and experience)

SUMMARY
This role encompasses responsibilities aimed at assisting students in selecting the educational path that aligns with their interests and capabilities, while also guiding them in their academic and professional journeys. Through counseling sessions and assessments, the counselor provides tailored advice and engages in organizing workshops and events focused on effective time management.

DUTIES

  • Develops and implements objectives and policies for guidance services in alignment with the College's success strategy.
  • Advises students on vocational choices by evaluating their interests, skills, personality traits, and experiences through individual and group counseling.
  • Addresses challenges related to indecision, lack of vocational clarity, and academic performance issues.
  • Informs and supports students regarding various educational programs and their admission processes.
  • Guides students in understanding diverse professions, including job outlooks and working conditions.
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team on case studies.
  • Maintains and updates student records relevant to counseling.
  • Builds and sustains relationships with labor market representatives and educational institutions.
  • Organizes and facilitates activities such as conferences and workshops that promote student success and personal growth.
  • Analyzes and adapts academic and career information for student use.
  • Administers and interprets aptitude assessments, discussing results with students.
  • Participates in orientation and registration activities as part of Student Services.
  • Engages with students considering leaving their programs.
  • Contributes to promotional activities for the College.
  • Provides educational support to students in technical programs while maintaining industry connections.
  • Assists students in transitioning to the workforce, including resume writing and interview preparation.
  • Ensures the accuracy of guidance service information on various platforms.
  • Coordinates visits to universities.
  • Participates in information sessions for universities and educational institutions.
  • Stays informed about labor market trends and educational programs.
  • May undertake additional related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Education, Guidance, Psychology, or a related area.
  • Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

  • Strong work ethic and discretion.
  • Relevant experience will be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with the Cégep system in Québec education is a plus.
