SALARY RANGE
$53,876.00 to $95,479.00 per year (based on education and experience)

SUMMARY
This professional role involves assisting students in selecting suitable educational paths that align with their interests and capabilities, while guiding them in their academic and career aspirations. Through counseling sessions and assessments, the counselor provides insights and participates in organizing workshops, conferences, and study days focused on time management and personal development.

DUTIES

  • Develops and implements objectives and policies for guidance services in alignment with the College's success plan.
  • Advises students on vocational choices by evaluating their interests, skills, personality traits, and experiences through individual and group counseling.
  • Addresses challenges related to indecision, lack of vocational direction, and academic performance issues.
  • Informs and supports students regarding various educational programs and their admission processes.
  • Helps students comprehend information about different professions, including job outlook and working conditions.
  • Collaborates in case studies as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintains accurate and updated student records relevant to guidance services.
  • Fosters relationships with labor market representatives, faculty, and other educational institutions.
  • Organizes and executes activities such as conferences and industrial visits that promote student success and personal growth.
  • Analyzes and adapts academic and career information for student use.
  • Administers and interprets aptitude assessments, discussing results with students.
  • As a member of Student Services:
  • Participates in orientation and registration events.
  • Consults with students considering leaving their programs.
  • Contributes to promotional initiatives of the College.
  • Provides academic support to students in technical programs and maintains connections with the job market.
  • Guides students in transitioning to the workforce, including resume writing and interview preparation.
  • Ensures the accuracy of information on guidance services available on the College's platforms.
  • Coordinates university visits and participates in information sessions at educational institutions.
  • Stays informed about labor market trends and educational programs.
  • May undertake additional related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Education, Guidance, Psychology, or related areas.
  • Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

  • Strong work ethic and discretion.
  • Relevant experience is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with the Cégep system in Québec education is a plus.
