**Job Summary**

Aviva is seeking an experienced Accident Benefits Litigation Clerk to support our Toronto/Markham/Oakville office in handling accident benefit matters. As an Accident Benefits Litigation Clerk, you will be responsible for various clerking tasks, including preparation and drafting of correspondence and legal documents, compilation of books of authorities, and summarizing discovery notes and transcripts.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Preparation and drafting of correspondence and legal documents, including motion records, affidavits, and pre-trial/mediation memos.
  • Compilation of books of authorities and factums.
  • Summarizing discovery notes, transcripts, economic loss, and medical reports.
  • Arranging investigations and surveillance, including preparing instruction letters to investigators.
  • Arranging independent medical examinations, including drafting and preparing medical briefs.
  • Dicta-typing, filing, scheduling, and updating internal databases.
  • Requisitioning cheques and maintaining electronic file organization.
  • Booking travel and ensuring integrity of information in matterMANAGER applications.
  • Liaising between counsel, external parties, and claims operations.

**Requirements**

  • Minimum of 5+ years of legal assistant and law clerk experience in an insurance defence or personal injury litigation environment.
  • Post-secondary accreditation for legal assistant or law clerk, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with MS Word, ACL, Adobe, Kofax, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of the Rules of the License Appeal Tribunal, Financial Services Commission of Ontario, and the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Ability to work in a paperless environment and possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Customer-service oriented with superb communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction and as part of a team.
