Position: Litigation Legal Assistant
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily functions of two legal practices, primarily focusing on Bankruptcy & Insolvency, with a secondary emphasis on Commercial Litigation.
  • Draft, revise, and finalize essential correspondence and legal documents.
  • Assist in the preparation of various litigation documents for the Commercial Courts, including but not limited to motion records, pleadings, notices, affidavits, and bills of costs.
  • Proactively maintain organized files for assigned attorneys.
  • Ensure the production of high-quality work, including sending legal demands or letters to opposing counsel.
  • Manage daily administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Handle accounting-related duties as required.
  • Be accountable for all assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate meetings and manage calendars.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of two years of prior experience as a Legal Assistant in a litigation environment.
  • Successful completion of a relevant post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program.
  • Strong understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Familiarity with the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act is advantageous.
  • Experience with submitting and formatting documents for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) is a plus.
  • Prior experience with ACL is beneficial.
  • Able to manage time-sensitive situations and handle multiple demands effectively.

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized.
