Position Title: Community Engagement Specialist - Portneuf-Jacques-Cartier

Become a vital part of Les Petits Frères, an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of isolated seniors. Our committed team, comprising both staff and volunteers, works tirelessly to fulfill our mission of supporting the elderly community.

As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will collaborate with your colleagues to design and implement summer programs aimed at reducing loneliness among our Elder Friends. Your role will involve visiting seniors who may be homebound and facilitating their participation in various scheduled activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and execution of diverse activities and entertainment options for seniors, working closely with team members
  • Provide logistical assistance for organizing events and outings
  • Lead specific activities designed for elderly participants
  • Conduct visits to seniors in their residences, nursing homes, or hospitals
  • Communicate any significant changes in the health or living conditions of Elder Friends to your supervisor
  • Perform follow-up calls with seniors and volunteers
  • Help coordinate occasional outings for elderly individuals
  • Document notes in the participant records

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing post-secondary education (preferably completed at least 2 years) in fields such as social work, specialized education, leisure studies, psychoeducation, psychology, or related human sciences
  • Genuine passion for supporting the elderly
  • Familiarity with the culture of non-profit organizations
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities
  • Strong diplomatic and listening skills
  • Highly organized and self-sufficient
  • Creative and innovative approach to problem-solving

Employment Details

· Temporary position for a duration of 8 weeks

· 35 hours per week

· Compensation of $19 per hour

· Flexible scheduling with a hybrid work model (combination of in-person and remote work)

Eligibility Criteria

· Candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 30

· Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
