Position Title: Community Engagement Specialist - Rivière des Mille-Îles

Become a vital part of Les Petits Frères, an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of isolated seniors. Our committed team, consisting of both staff and volunteers, is passionate about our mission to provide companionship and support to the elderly.

As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will report to the regional coordinator and work collaboratively with team members to develop and implement summer activities aimed at reducing loneliness among our elderly population. Your role will also involve visiting seniors who are homebound and facilitating their participation in scheduled events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and execution of diverse activities and programs for seniors, in partnership with team members
  • Provide logistical assistance for organizing events and outings
  • Lead selected activities and programs
  • Conduct visits to elderly individuals in their residences, long-term care facilities, or hospitals
  • Communicate any changes in the living conditions, health status, or concerns of the elderly to the intervention worker
  • Perform follow-up communications with seniors and volunteers
  • Help coordinate occasional outings for elderly individuals
  • Document notes in client files

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing post-secondary education (preferably having completed the second year) in fields such as special education, social work, recreational therapy, psychoeducation, psychology, or related humanities and/or animation disciplines
  • Genuine enthusiasm for supporting the elderly
  • Familiarity with the non-profit sector
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Diplomatic and attentive demeanor
  • Highly organized and self-sufficient
  • Creative and innovative mindset

Employment Conditions

This is a temporary position lasting 8 weeks.

Working hours total 35 hours per week.

The hourly wage is set at $19.

Flexible scheduling options are available, including a hybrid work model (both in-person and remote).

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the Canada Summer Jobs program eligibility requirements:

  • Aged between 15 and 30 years
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
