Position Overview:

The Wholesale Architecture team at Windstream is expanding and is looking for a Senior Engineer to spearhead the innovation and advancement of Core to Edge routing and switching. This role involves developing, enhancing, and launching intelligent data service solutions within the IP and MPLS domains. The ideal candidate will serve as a network architect, guiding the evolution of Windstream's existing networks to integrate the latest technological capabilities while maintaining cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product development teams to assess customer requirements for Wholesale and Enterprise packet and IP products.
  • Define product capabilities and drive the evolution of new offerings based on customer needs.
  • Identify optimal network deployment locations and demand profiles to inform engineering teams.
  • Evaluate and select cutting-edge technologies and systems in routing, switching, and network automation.
  • Conduct RFx analysis, lead proof of concept tests, and initiate field trials.
  • Champion innovation in new technologies and services while evolving existing products.
  • Work alongside partner engineering and strategy teams to select and integrate hardware and software for product deployment.
  • Enhance existing IP testbeds and develop automated testing methods within a network lab environment.
  • Document configurations for platforms, products, and services.
  • Support network intelligence and automation initiatives for packet products.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of the communications service provider industry and various data network engineering disciplines.
  • Proficiency in building economic cost models for data services and network projects.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management expertise to balance timelines and priorities across various initiatives.
  • A degree in Engineering or a related field, along with 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Highly adaptable and motivated by challenges.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional standing, walking, and bending.
  • Continuous sitting and repetitive hand actions.
