Position Overview:

The Wholesale Architecture team at Windstream is seeking a Senior Engineer to spearhead the innovation and advancement of Core to Edge routing and switching technologies. This role involves the development, enhancement, and launch of intelligent data service solutions within the IP and MPLS domains. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in evolving Windstream's existing networks, integrating the latest technological advancements while optimizing cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product development teams to analyze customer requirements for Wholesale and Enterprise packet and IP products.
  • Define product capabilities and evolution to meet the demands of Wholesale customers.
  • Identify strategic network deployment locations and demand profiles for engineering teams.
  • Evaluate and select cutting-edge technologies in routing, switching, and network automation.
  • Conduct RFx analysis, lead proof of concept tests, and initiate field trials.
  • Champion innovation in new technologies and the evolution of existing products.
  • Work alongside partner Engineering and Strategy teams to integrate hardware and software for product deployment.
  • Enhance existing IP testbeds and develop automated testing procedures within a network lab environment.
  • Document configurations for platforms, products, and services.
  • Support network intelligence and automation initiatives for packet products.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of the communications service provider industry and various data network engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to construct economic cost models for data services and network projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
  • A degree in Engineering or a related field, coupled with 7+ years of professional experience.
  • Highly adaptable and motivated by challenges.

Physical and Technical Requirements:

  • Proficient use of computers and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to perform tasks that may require standing, walking, and fine manipulation.
