Position: Fitter

Compensation: $37.55 – Fully Qualified (starting rates for learners: Learner 1: $31.91/hr; Learner 2: $33.79/hr; Learner 3: $35.67)

We are seeking skilled individuals to enhance our production workforce as a Fitter at our facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute various fitting operations on company products; install robotic tube hole cleaning systems and assist robotic technical staff as necessary. Prepare pre-heating equipment.

Specific Duties:

  • Prepare jigs and holding devices as needed; position, fit, and assemble materials per specifications, drawings, jigs, or layouts; cut and fit templates and gaskets as required. Ensure work accuracy and cleanliness.
  • Interpret Work Orders, Drawings, Shop Instruction Sheets (SIS), and Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS); organize and plan the fitting process; identify and confirm workpiece materials.
  • Plan and organize the fitting process; identify and confirm workpiece materials.
  • Select, utilize, and operate measuring and inspection tools.
  • Choose and apply layout tools; establish layout lines from existing reference points; create templates.
  • Determine and set oxy-acetylene or natural gas pressure settings and cutting tips; pre-heat workpieces; utilize various cutting methods including oxy-acetylene, plasma-arc, and carbon-arc.
  • Conduct pressure testing procedures.
  • Perform studding, arc air, non-pressure welding, and component tacking during fitting. Examples of welding tasks include internal cyclone separator parts in jig assembly.
  • Carry out hydrostatic and pneumatic testing of boilers and pressure vessels.
  • Set up and position pre-heating apparatus.
  • Safely transport and position materials and equipment to and from the work area, using overhead cranes or forklifts as necessary; establish jigs and holding devices in the work area as required.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and demonstrate high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
  • Dedication to quality and the ability to collaborate effectively as a team member, going the extra mile to meet customer expectations.
  • Prior fitting experience, preferably in a heavy manufacturing setting.
  • Successful completion of a welding program.
  • Intermediate proficiency in blueprint interpretation.
  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings, specifications, operating procedures, and work orders.
  • Willingness to work various shifts:
    • Weekday days: 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Mon – Thurs) OR
    • Weekday afternoons: 4:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. (Mon – Thurs) OR
    • Weekend days: 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours) OR
    • Weekend afternoons: 5:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours)
