Job Summary

CHEO is a leading pediatric healthcare organization seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our multidisciplinary team. As a Speech Language Pathologist at CHEO, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to children and youth with complex communication needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Treatment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals using evidence-based tools to diagnose speech sounds and oral-motor difficulties, language, and communication disorders with neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Individualized Therapy Plans: Develop and implement individualized therapy plans that focus on unique needs and strengths of patients, utilizing evidence-based interventions to address communication challenges.
  • Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to determine the appropriate approach to care and needs of patients, providing counseling and advice to family/caregivers, educators, and/or healthcare professionals.
  • Feeding and Swallowing Assessments: Conduct feeding and swallowing assessments, identify and manage dysphagia using appropriate treatment, and educate and counsel patients and their families about safe swallowing practices.
Qualifications
  • Education and Registration: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
  • Experience and Training: Minimum two (2) years' experience in the field of Speech Language Pathology, with two (2) years of experience with children and youth with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, and/or other neurodevelopmental conditions and children and youth presenting with challenging behaviors.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strength in teamwork and communication skills, excellent time management and organizational skills, willingness to work flexible hours, and comprehensively use relevant computer technology and communication devices.
