About the Role:

CHEO is a leading paediatric healthcare organization seeking a skilled Virtual Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Virtual Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide high-quality client-focused interventions for children, youth, and their families at CHEO and in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide education, assessment, parent-directed programs, individual and group treatment, mediated therapy, and consultation to parents and caregivers.
  • Specialize in the evaluation and treatment of patients with neurodevelopmental needs, including autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, and developmental language disorders.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals using appropriate tools to diagnose speech sounds and oral-motor difficulties, language, and communication disorders with neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans that focus on unique needs and strengths of patients, organizing short and long-term goals.
  • Utilize evidence-based interventions to address communication challenges, including speech sounds disorders, language delays, social communication difficulties, and augmentative and alternative (ACC) needs.
  • Provide counseling and advice to family/caregivers, educators, and/or healthcare professionals.
  • Recommend and design tasks for skill transfer to home/school, provide mediator training, and parent education, using videos for teaching, and documenting progress.
  • Identify children at risk or with communication, cognitive, and/or feeding/swallowing difficulties.
  • Conduct assessments of children in settings outside the clinical environment.
  • Communicate and work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, patient, family/caregivers on the child's needs and appropriate interventions.
  • Present information at multi-disciplinary meetings, medical clinic rounds, and other various meetings.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in the field of Speech Language Pathology.
  • Two (2) years of experience with children and youth with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, and/or other neurodevelopmental conditions and children and youth presenting with challenging behaviors.
  • Lidcombe Program Fluency Training.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Comprehensively use relevant computer technology and communication devices.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Bilingualism (English/French).
