Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing facilities equipment, building systems, and grounds to ensure uninterrupted operation. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance procedures for facilities equipment, building, and grounds as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor and Facilities Engineer.
  • Repair and maintain facilities equipment such as water pumps, cooling towers, motors, supply and exhaust fans, and vacuum pumps.
  • Monitor and control building automation systems (BAS) to ensure optimal operation of chillers, cooling towers, and heat exchangers.
  • Monitor and control compressed air systems to ensure compliance with compressed air pressure requirements.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to material handling systems, including rail car unloading systems, vacuum pumps, and motors.
  • Monitor roof top HVAC systems and request service if emergency occurs.
  • Maintain and repair Keeprite and Carrier air handling units, sprinkler systems, water, and associated equipment.
  • Monitor work performed by mechanical, electrical, or plumbing contractors in emergency situations.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in mechanical rooms and facilities storage areas.
  • Support snow plowing contractor and gardener to clean external areas.
  • Complete and maintain related records, including maintenance logs and security incident reports.
  • Transport equipment, furniture, and supplies manually or using aids such as dollies and carts.
  • Operate Sky-Jack or Zoom Boom as required.
  • Ensure energy savings and continuous improvement initiatives are followed.

Requirements

  • Industrial Millwright required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of hydronics, pneumatics, and controls.
  • Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Five years of registered trade level experience in building and utilities maintenance.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the plastic industry.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems.

Training

  • On-the-job training provided by the company using the buddy system.
  • Health and Safety, WHMIS, SQF policies and procedures provided by Polytainers.
