The Product Development Team at Mackenzie Investments is currently seeking candidates for the role of Senior Manager, Alternative Product Development. Reporting directly to the AVP, Alternative Product Development, this position entails the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough competitive and industry assessments to guide the creation of new product initiatives, ensuring alignment with market dynamics and organizational goals.
  • Assist the AVP, Alternative Product Development, in the evaluation, formulation, and support of new product initiatives.
  • Lead the process of securing necessary approvals, coordinating product launches, and facilitating training sessions for new alternative products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement launch strategies, address challenges, and partner with product managers for successful execution.
  • Oversee the administration of Mackenzie’s alternative investment funds, including interval funds, offering memorandum products, and liquid alternative funds.
  • Manage capital commitments and calls for Mackenzie’s private asset offerings.
  • Provide ongoing support, expertise, and training to the Sales Team regarding product structures and investment solutions.
  • Direct research initiatives aimed at enhancing and sustaining Mackenzie’s current alternative products while leading the ideation and development of new offerings.
  • Monitor and analyze product launches, tracking growth and performance across various markets, and making strategic adjustments as necessary.
  • Review and interpret external research reports, effectively conveying findings and insights to internal stakeholders to inform strategic decisions.
  • Communicate ad hoc research and analysis insights to stakeholders to aid their decision-making processes.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for senior management to facilitate communication and support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide critical industry reports and analytics, along with product-level competitive intelligence, to ensure a continuous flow of information supporting innovation.
  • Lead and coordinate project management efforts for new and ongoing initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and timely execution.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance or Business; CFA designation is advantageous.
  • 6 – 10 years of experience in Product Development within the Financial Services sector, demonstrating a proven track record of leadership and strategic influence.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the financial services landscape and the global/domestic competitive environment for retail, strategic alliances, and institutional business lines.
  • Strong working knowledge of capital markets, asset categories, and alternative investment products.
  • Extensive familiarity with investment industry products and services, as well as distribution channels.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with teams across the organization.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities, capable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated capacity for innovation and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint), Bloomberg, and Morningstar Direct.

Analytical Skills

  • Ability to employ advanced analytical techniques to support decision-making and strategy development.
  • Proficient in utilizing various analytical tools for financial analysis.
  • Apply sound judgment in constructing analyses and formulating recommendations.
  • Resourceful and innovative in addressing new or unique challenges through well-supported analysis and business insight.
  • Strong interest in business unit analysis and review, including financial modeling.

Presentation and Communication Skills

  • Ability to create engaging PowerPoint presentations with clear messaging and robust analysis.
  • Maintain professionalism in interactions with both internal and external clients.
  • Articulate in communication with all management levels and skilled in concise and persuasive writing.

Project Management Skills

  • Capable of coordinating resources across the organization for large-scale projects.
  • Timeline-oriented with a consistent history of meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable managing multiple concurrent issues and priorities.
