Position Summary
The Administrative Support Specialist plays a crucial role within our team, collaborating closely with healthcare providers across the department. This position entails responsibilities such as managing reception duties, scheduling patient appointments, performing word processing tasks, and executing various clerical functions, all under the supervision of the Department Manager. The role exemplifies our organizational core competencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist nursing staff and physicians in coordinating patient appointments and executing clerical tasks.
- Serve as a receptionist, engaging with patients both over the phone and in person.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 education.
- Medical Terminology Certificate is mandatory.
- A diploma in Medical Office Administration or a related post-secondary qualification from an accredited institution is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of clerical experience in an acute care healthcare setting is required.
- Proficient keyboarding skills.
- Consistent attendance and reliability.
- Current knowledge and proficiency in using medical electronic health record systems.
- Experience with computerized provider/physician order entry (CPOE) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
- A willingness to learn and innovate is essential.
- Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
