Job Summary

Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director, Strategic Initiatives. This position will be responsible for leading and driving a client-focused culture by supporting and delivering a winning team and simplifying and delivering strategy throughout the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans to drive business growth and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to identify, develop, and refine performance measures and key performance metrics that support the strategic management process.
  • Develop and maintain a centre of excellence by operating impartially across the business team to connect initiatives and identify optimization opportunities in partnership with Operations.
  • Leverage research and insights to identify emerging trends and opportunities for innovation and change.
  • Monitor industry and competitive landscapes to identify potential threats and risks.
  • Analyze and present GFM employee engagement metrics to drive the delivery of GFM targeted initiatives.
  • Build strategic presentations and communications that focus on providing insight into goals, strategy, programs, processes, and vision of executive leadership.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to become a trusted advisor and strategic partner in the identification and execution of transformational and/or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Global Fraud Management function, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience working in a leadership capacity within payments or a financial services organization.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of fraud management, including operations, threat-intelligence/management, customer identity and access management (CIAM), and cyber security functions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a big picture focus, creative mindset/problem solver, and a comfort with interacting with leadership, management, employees, and stakeholders.
  • Consulting experience with a focus on strategy and performance management.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading strategic planning initiatives and driving organizational growth.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide innovative solutions.
  • Sound strategic planning and project management skills, including change management, capable of handling multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Track record of building and deepening relationships as a collaborator, strategic thinker, and independently driving initiative.
  • Political sensitivity and proven superior consultative, relationship building, and management skills to drive/direct a shared agenda to successful outcomes.
