About the Role

Aecon is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources Coordinator to join our Civil - Major Projects West team. As a key member of our HR team, you will provide administrative support for payroll, benefits, and training initiatives, ensuring seamless execution of HR processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll and HRIS Administration
    • Process payroll transactions, including new hire paperwork, terminations, benefits, and compensation changes.
    • Investigate and resolve employee queries related to pay and benefits.
    • Collect and file associated paperwork, ensuring proper backup and signatures.
    • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on payroll, new hires, terminations, headcount, benefits, and training.
    • Lead data audits to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding
    • Coordinate new hire onboarding, including drafting offer letters, collecting paperwork, and ensuring IT needs are met.
    • Schedule and coordinate orientations for new hires.
    • Act as liaison between HR, IS, and new hires regarding onboarding information.
    • Offboard employees, including communication with payroll and IT.
  • Benefits Administration
    • Ensure employees are enrolled in benefits programs.
    • Act as liaison to the pension and benefits department.
    • Investigate and resolve employee queries related to benefits.
    • Process health and wellness benefits.
  • Training and Development
    • Coordinate and organize training sessions, including booking rooms, equipment, and materials.
    • Ensure tuition and training forms are completed, organized, and tracked.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Code HR-related invoices and liaise with the A/P department.
    • Participate in compensation surveys.
    • Maintain HR forms for employee use.
    • Update confidential information on a daily basis.
    • File administrative documents in employee files.
    • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
    Requirements
    • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field.
    • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in an operational environment.
    • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple clients and deliverables.
    • Experience with SAP and SuccessFactors is an asset.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with various audiences, stakeholders, and clients.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Strong customer service skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships.
    • Demonstrated ability to use MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
