Position Overview: Compliance Analyst (Legal Risk and Compliance Department)

Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Analyst will assist firm members with client onboarding, conflict of interest assessments, and adherence to Know-Your-Client regulations, among other duties. This role is vital in ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates, industry standards, and internal policies. You will identify potential compliance risks and devise strategies to mitigate them.

Work Environment

This position is part of the Firm-wide Legal Risk and Compliance team and can be based in any of our Canadian offices. The role is primarily remote, with occasional on-site collaboration as needed. Candidates must reside near their designated office and be prepared to commute as required.

Primary Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting conflict searches to identify and document potential conflicts for communication to relevant stakeholders.
  • Researching corporate affiliations and reviewing conflict reports for relevance.
  • Independently analyzing potential conflict issues.
  • Reviewing New Business Intake forms for compliance with regulations and internal policies.
  • Training legal assistants and stakeholders on compliance processes.
  • Providing ongoing support to legal staff.
  • Familiarizing oneself with firm policies and addressing inquiries.
  • Assisting with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in Law, Business, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in a professional services environment (legal, accounting, consulting).
  • Prior experience with conflict searches is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Know Your Client (KYC) regulations is advantageous.
