Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Regulatory Compliance Specialist to support the Corvus team with our exciting and expanding project and client base. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in preparing regulatory applications for facilities and pipelines, primarily for the British Columbia Energy Regulator (BCER), Environmental Assessment Office (EAO), and the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) as well as experience with other provincial jurisdictions and the Canada Energy Regulator (CER).

This technical role involves the coordination and execution of land and environmental programs for the full life cycle of energy-related projects through planning, construction, operation, and decommissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and apply BCER, EAO, and AER regulations and directives in the preparation and submission of regulatory applications, notifications, and reports.
  • Compile BC Environmental Assessments and Alberta Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA) approval/registration applications.
  • Coordinate environmental management and monitoring programs including spill contingency, groundwater and soil monitoring, wildlife, dust control, vegetation, and security management.
  • Research and prepare environmental and regulatory focused due diligence reports and liability assessments for asset mergers and acquisitions.
  • Lead project and team meetings with peers, regulators, and clients and offer guidance and expertise.
  • Prepare and review technical reports and summaries to ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental permit requirements and conditions.
  • Manage projects effectively, ensuring deadlines are met and projects remain within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with regulatory bodies, clients, and internal project teams to ensure smooth application processes.
  • Delivery of technical results to stakeholders including regulatory bodies, industry, and interested community members.
  • Review and interpret engineered drawings to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Direct mentorship of aspiring professionals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or higher post-secondary degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in a directly related role including experience conducting various regulatory and environmental applications and assessments, with a focus on BCER, EAO, AER, and CER regulations.
  • Professional Designation and member in good standing of a professional organization (e.g. APEGA, EGBC, AIA, ASPB) is an asset.
  • Experience with Application Management System (AMS), KERMIT, Digital Data Submission (DDS), OneStop, and Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS) platforms.
  • Previous experience in a consulting environment. Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully executing projects; delivering a high-quality product, managing deadlines, and adhering to budgets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate and communicate across multiple teams, stakeholders, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership traits include mentorship, self-motivation, client engagement, and office professionalism.
Location

Hybrid working arrangement with the expectation of some in-person mentorship, team development, and client interaction.
