We are in search of a Bilingual Superintendent to deliver technical expertise and support to the project team and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to all design specifications, engineering standards, codes, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster and implement a Safety-First culture for all personnel, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Advocate for safety in all operations and participate in the development of safe work plans, hazard assessments, and mentorship initiatives.
  • Guide team members by leading safety discussions and conducting inspections.
  • Monitor and report on project quality, resource needs, and stakeholder relations to the General Superintendent and/or Construction Manager.
  • Supervise the job site and ensure compliance with all project policies and procedures by Forepersons.
  • Enhance the quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews.
  • Address productivity concerns with Forepersons and collaborate with crews to overcome challenges.
  • Adhere to project plans and budgets while ensuring that teams meet production targets.
  • Comprehend the scope and sequencing of work, assisting Forepersons in planning and prioritizing tasks to minimize downtime.
  • Contribute to the formulation of a comprehensive construction plan.
  • Oversee multiple crews and subcontractors effectively.
  • Develop construction methodologies, plan material and equipment needs, and schedule civil operations.
  • Review daily work schedules and production rates with Field Engineers and the General Superintendent/CM, updating monthly timelines as necessary.
  • Analyze project plans and specifications to facilitate job setup activities.
  • Preference for local experience with DOT/MTO/Municipal projects.
  • Strong commitment to OSHA and project-specific safety protocols.
  • Document daily field activities and provide technical insights to resolve design challenges.
  • Establish optimal crew structures for project performance.
  • Present production plans to crews effectively.
  • Collaborate with Quality Staff to ensure proper inspections and testing for assigned scopes of work.
  • Manage the ordering and coordination of equipment and materials to maintain budget and schedule.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years in a supervisory role within the construction industry, including civil, roads, bridges, and tunnels.
  • Detail-oriented and dedicated work ethic.
  • Required experience on construction sites.
  • Educational background should include an engineering degree or a relevant combination of technical training and experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is essential.
  • Ability to utilize drafting software for developing construction methodologies.
  • Strong capability to interpret engineering drawings, documents, and site plans.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools, automated systems, and remote tooling systems.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication within a large team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Willingness to adapt to project schedules, which may include weekends and/or night shifts.
  • Flexibility to work in both field and office environments.
