About the Role:
Ignite Talent Solutions is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in a leading international mid-size bank located in Canada. As a key member of the Legal Department, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to the bank, focusing on compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing contracts and agreements, including providing legal advice on legal and regulatory matters.
- Supporting the Chief Compliance Officer with all legal and litigation matters.
- Maintaining a strong understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including the Bank Act, privacy laws, FCAC regulations, B10, B20, E-13, and RCM guidelines.
- Assisting with the development of policies and compliance matters.
- Providing training to staff on legal and compliance matters.
- Working closely with other departments to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
- Representing the Legal Department on special projects, new product proposals, and risk management initiatives, vendor contracts.
- Assessing legal and reputational risk of new initiatives or changes to existing products and services.
Requirements:
- Strong professional and academic credentials, including a law degree from an accredited law school and qualification to practice law in Canada.
- 2 years of experience practicing law.
- Superior analytical and communication skills in both legal and business settings.
- Ability to work independently on multiple files and prioritize them effectively while meeting deadlines.
- Familiarity with and ability to stay current on the legislation and regulations governing banking and finance products.
