Job Description

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Director, Corporate Accounting to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in developing and managing our long and short-range capital and operations and maintenance planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Manage Budget Standards: Develop and manage the Corporation's budget standards and processes for capital planning and operational revenues and expenditures.
  • Provide Financial Planning and Advice: Provide financial planning and advice to Senior Management on new projects, re-designs, and changes to existing programs.
  • Evaluate Financial Data and Reports: Evaluate proposed policies and analyze financial data and reports to determine impacts on the NHC and GN Main Estimates and financial and capital plans.
  • Supervise and Train Staff: Supervise direct reports and provide training and coaching to departmental staff.

Requirements:

  • Education: A recognized degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or Economics.
  • Experience: Four (4) years of progressive work experience in budgeting and financial planning, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Professional Designation: A professional accounting designation (CPA) is considered an asset.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Official Languages: Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, and French) would be considered an asset.

Working Environment:

  • Northern Cross-Cultural Environment: Experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment is considered an asset.
