Pediatric Pulmonary Function Specialist

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive Pulmonary Function Laboratory tests as outlined by the Diagnostic Accreditation program.
  • Ensure the diagnostic equipment is accurately calibrated and functioning properly before patient assessments.
  • Execute specialized pediatric pulmonary diagnostic evaluations, including Membrane Testing and Impulse Oscillometry.
  • Monitor patients' overall condition to guarantee safety and optimal performance during procedures.
  • Document and analyze patient responses throughout testing and therapies, maintaining detailed records.
  • Provide in-service training and demonstrate procedures to healthcare team members, including medication administration and pulmonary function testing.
  • Support quality assurance and infection control standards through specialized testing and participation in quality control meetings.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of diagnostic equipment.
  • Compile and prepare patient pulmonary function data and statistical reports for financial review.
  • Participate in departmental meetings to share and gather information.
  • Carry out additional related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care examination.
  • Eligibility for membership with the British Society of Respiratory Therapists and the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists.
  • Current certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.
  • A minimum of one year of recent experience in pediatric Pulmonary Function Diagnostics or an equivalent combination of education and training.

  • Awareness of the social, economic, and historical contexts affecting Indigenous Peoples.
