Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist

Role Overview

As a Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in the assessment and management of respiratory conditions in pediatric patients. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the overall health and recovery of our young patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients' medical histories and perform detailed assessments of their respiratory conditions.
  • Operate and maintain respiratory equipment, ensuring all quality control procedures are followed.
  • Manage ventilator support for patients, adhering to established care protocols.
  • Administer tailored medical gas therapies based on individual patient needs.
  • Provide both invasive and non-invasive monitoring of cardiopulmonary functions.
  • Analyze patient responses during various treatments and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, including cardiac arrests.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports and documentation of patient care activities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams during departmental meetings to enhance patient care.
  • Mentor and educate students, staff, and other healthcare professionals in respiratory therapy practices.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the department.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care examination.
  • Active registration with the British Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) and the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT).
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
