About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Software Applications to join our team at the Royal Bank of Canada. As a key member of our Technology and Operations division, you will play a critical role in driving the development and implementation of innovative IT solutions that support our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the development and delivery of mission-critical applications and productivity tools, ensuring they meet the required standards and timelines.
  • Direct the work of development teams, including scope, schedule, and resource allocation.
  • Make strategic architectural decisions for relevant applications, aligning with the company's technology strategy and roadmap.
  • Shape the future technology direction of Finance IT, including front, middle, and back office operations.
  • Ensure the stability, performance, and compliance of applications in the portfolio, as well as their development initiatives and roadmap strategy.
  • Contribute to successful project completion within budget and on time, identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of IBM Planning Analytics / TM1, Oracle - PCMCS, Big Data, and Full Stack Programming products.
  • Good understanding of Enterprise Performance Management concepts, including Financial Planning and Analysis, Financial Consolidation, and Cost Allocations.
  • Infrastructure knowledge, including Client/Server, SaaS, Mainframe, and DevOps.
  • Experience in leading large teams, with a strong handle on SDLC concepts and project management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present to executive-level audiences.
  • Professional experience on multiple projects with multiple interfaces and/or 3rd party software packages.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing, motivating, and providing mentorship to resources on high-performing IT development teams.
  • Understanding and technical knowledge in cross-platform and cross-database space.
  • Experience with multi-tier system development for large enterprises.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills to operate as a leading member of global distributed technical teams.
