As a Mid-Level Underwriting Specialist, you will assess and analyze large and intricate account applications to evaluate risk, coverage extent, and premium rates. Your role will involve accepting or declining applications based on established guidelines, company philosophies, and Authority Levels.

Your Impact:
  • Underwriting and quoting new business, renewals, and endorsements in alignment with the company's underwriting philosophy and service standards.
  • Engaging in negotiations regarding coverage and rates while participating in underwriting audits.
  • Completing necessary documentation to support the business you manage.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with brokers.
  • Fostering a team-oriented approach to achieve corporate and departmental goals, including premium and profitability targets.
  • Managing branch underwriting referrals and providing mentorship to junior underwriting team members.
  • Staying informed about market conditions, insurance regulations, and emerging trends.
  • Participating in special projects alongside various teams within Sovereign as needed.

To Join Our Team:
  • You possess over 7 years of experience in Commercial Underwriting, particularly in the mid-market sector.
  • Your background includes experience in Construction, Manufacturing, Wholesale, and/or Transportation and Logistics.
  • Holding a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is advantageous.

Expected Salary Range: $86,250 - $143,750
*The salary for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators at its discretion and will vary based on local market conditions, geography, and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education. Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance.
