Summary
The Commercial Door Technician is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on commercial doors for multiple facilities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Execute work in accordance with established processes and practices.
- Comply with all internal and external requirements, including environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as fire protection standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on commercial doors and related hardware components.
- Provide observations on conditions and deficiencies, offering suggestions for enhancements and repairs.
- Respond to routine and on-demand service requests promptly and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to commercial doors and their hardware.
- Repair, replace, and install door hardware components as needed.
- Record resolution data in applicable logs/service maintenance management systems. Ensure all completed work meets quality and contract response standards, fulfilling all other requirements.
- Receive, track, monitor, and report the status of maintenance work within designated logs/service maintenance management systems. Document requests to obtain formal approval for required work.
- Ensure that all work performed adheres to corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental, health, and safety, as well as any other applicable requirements.
- Maintain assigned tools and arrange for repair or replacement when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Requirements
- Ability to work flexible shifts, be on-call, and respond to emergencies.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment.
Education, Job-Related Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum Education: High school education
- Job-Related Experience: More than three years up to five years
- 3 to 5 years of commercial door maintenance and repair work experience.
- High school diploma plus trades training and certification is an asset.
- Ability to adhere to and properly execute established processes and practices.
- Ability to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems related to doors and door hardware components.
- Strong troubleshooting and resolution skills to effectively resolve commercial door issues.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to environmental, health, and safety protocols.
- Excellent customer service skills.
